Chicken stirfry and cool-j

Last night Randall and I cooked up a stirfry. The secret is to
make the chicken and the vegetables in a different pan. This allows
the chicken to get a nice crispy panfry crust and the veggies to
become caramelized to perfection. We also cook the noodles al dente
and then mix it altogether once everything is ready.

This morning I was feeling a bit dizzy on my way to work. I figured
it was because I was hungry and so when I got to work I had one of my
favorite egg sandwiches and an oj. Wait, I mean cool j.

the cool j didn't help with the dizziness. All day I felt a bit
lightheaded. It wasn't until after lunch - stirfry leftovers - that I
started to feel better. Maybe it was the food, but i think it was
because my blood pressure was rising because I was so frustrated with
my computer. Seriously, the last two days have been a total waste.

This is just down right ridiculous

This morning I grabbed breakfast from home and made a conscious effort
to try and bring healthier snacks. I figured I'd eat cottage cheese,
cherry tomatoes, an apple and some coconut water. When i got to work
melissa presented us with the rest of her cookie cake, and two bags of
candy. Seriously. I can't make this shit up. I ate my food for
breakfast and apparently had cookie cake for lunch. This folks is the
reason why we have to declare all sweets off limits for the month of
October. This is completely insane.

A bit of the frango

To thank me for catsitting the boys, anneh brought back a box of
frango chocolates from chicago. These little minty pieces of
awesomeness were originally sold in Marshall field's only, but can now
be bought at macys.com or macy's stores that were once Marshall
field's stores. I wasn't sure what to expect when she gave them to me,
and thought maybe they were mint patties or something like Andes
mints. They're not, they're better. They're like thicker feeling
truffles and are the perfect blend of chocolate and mint. The result
is a rich yet refreshing bite. I would highly recommend giving them a
try.

I wasn't that hungry and then suddenly I was

For some reason I wasn't hungry on Sunday night. I couldn't figure out
what i wanted, and ended up eating cereal in a mug. I bought a new box
of special k when we took miss anneh to the supermarket. She fell off
her bike and went boom and I took her to get bandages and insisted
that she ride the rascal instead of walking around. Good thing too,
turns out she fractured her foot.

The next day I still wasn't that hungry and ended up getting wonton
soup at out the door. It was our bi-weekly dev group lunch and we all
headed out to the mall. That's right, I hung out with the boys a the
mall.

Later that evening I went to the gym and came back starving. I
devoured an apple and then called up Randall to tell him to meet me
for tacos. We decided to try out la tortilla which is down the street
but we've never been. I have no idea why it took so long to go there
(three years) but the chicken I had was pretty delicious. Although
like I mentioned earlier, I was starving.

Beep beep burger

Yesterday afternoon chris called us up to see if we wanted to hang out
with samshrew and sushi dog. They had a zip car and were headed to
mclaren park for an afternoon adventure. We happily said yes and then
spent the next few hours exploring the park and making friends with
other dogs. Afterwards we were all pretty hungry so we got back in the
car and started driving. Chris remembered that there was a burger
stand by city college and so we headed there. I ordered the quarter
pounder with fries (although I wished I had thought of onion rings in
time as I tend to prefer those) and a root beer float. The root beer
tasted a bit watery, but everything else was good right down to the
melty american cheese.

Crossing the food beams

On Sunday morning, Randall decided he was going to make potstickers
for brunch. I am flush with ripe tomatoes and thought a caprese salad
would be good. However I knew I would be sad to miss out on the fried
foods, and so I had Randall make some for me too. They didn't fully
mix together, but as morm says, it all goes to the same place anyway.

I'm an adult and I will have ice cream for dinner if I feel like it

Saturday night Randall cooked himself up a porkchop for dinner. I had
a few bites, but wasn't really interested or hungry. An hour or so
later anneh and I met up at birite for ice cream. I was originally
going to get just a kids scoop, but somehow ended up going with a full
blown bananasplit with two kinds of ice cream. I wish I had said no
whip cream, it just always makes the ice cream taste less awesome. It
was, however, an amazingly warm night and hour long talks in the park
over ice cream was exactly what I wanted for dinner.

Getting the last of the candy

After brunch on saturday dk, Randall, and I went walking. We headed
toward the wave organs and then doubled back towards union street. I
never make it to that neighborhood, so I had no idea that it was home
to a super cute candy store. Dk was hunting for a hostess gift and
ended up building a super cute candy box. I, knowing that my no sweets
for the entire month of October pact with Melissa was looming, bought
a bag of sour stars to devour in a few days. I actually didn't like
them much and knew I should've gone with the sour grapefruit.
Afterwards we got ourselves a coffee boost and Randall and I decided
to split a coffee frap. I thought it was going to be a bad idea, but
it turned out to be the perfect amount of ice and caffeine.

Eggs eggs and more rosey eggs

On saturday morning, Randall and I grabbed anneh and then drove off to
the opposite side of the city to meet dk for brunch. When she and I
had the pizza at piccino she told me that I had to try the one at
rose's cafe, and so we made a date. It was a good pizza, but I didn't
love it. The eggs were great though. We also split the poached eggs
over polenta and what can I say? If it's an egg and it's cooked well,
I'm going to love it. Especially when it's paired with a bloody Mary
on a lazy Saturday morning.

The ol BV

After dinner, I tried to think of other touristy things we could do
before Amy and Jim left town. It didn't take long before I landed on
one of my college era faves, the buena vista for their Irish coffees.
The legend goes that Irish coffees were invented there. I don't know
if it's true or not, but they do them well and they have it down to a
science. Plus it's always an interesting crowd of people there and
you share tablea with tourists from all over the world. It's sort of
the perfect way to end a tourist day.
