Also some with some sort of sweet pastry sauce all over it. It sounds
wrong, but my inner 13 year old is thrilled.
Oh and I'm not at a frat house, this is a real restaurant.

I like soup a lot, and around here there ar lots of soup options. The
problem is none of them are very good. That is except for the lil' gem
that is pasta benne. They only have two kinds each day, but every
flavor is delicious. And lately, their bruschetta is discounted. So
for $5.97 you can get a good tasting cup of soup plus a few slices of
bruschetta (loads of tomato goodness plopped on top) and some greens.
You really can't beat this deal. Plus, the owners are adorable and
have cute accents. Ladies and gentlemen, this place is a win.

Our building had a lil' reception for the holidays. This meant I had
free waffles with whipped cream and strawberries. Hot cocoa too. Gotta
love 111 sutter. Even if there is some supposed ghost.

Jessi's hosting her annual cookie decorating party. I won best in show
for my buffalo with native American riding in top. No, jessi doesn't
have buffalo cookie cutters, but one of the gingerbreadmen lost his
limbs and I turned him on his side and thought it looke like a weird
animal that one of the wee ones could ride. It's up in the top right
if you're interested.

I cleaned the cupboard out this afternoon and found a can of pumpkin
purée, 2 superripe bananas, and half a bag of chocolate chips. The
three ingredients were begging to be thrown together, so I made a loaf
of bread -- although really, it's more like cake. I decided not to use
a recipe and think I might have gone a bit heavy on the flour, but
only a little. It still came out tasty, and I am definitely patting
myself on the back for this one.

This evening Sara, Randall, marketman and I headed out to the old
mandarin Islamic way out in the sunset district. I had heard about it
on the food network (chef vs city) and knew I had to try the dish
called "la si ni" which literally means spicy kill you. The dish was
fantastic as was the rest of the food. In fact, I'm going to declare
it some of the best Chinese food in the city. The most interesting
thing about this place is that it's also Islamic, so no pork, but lots
and lots of delicious lamb.
On a related note, the spicy didn't bother me there, but now a few
hours later i think my vision's going blurry. Either way, it was worth
it.

The sign at the coffee bean and tea leaf said so and it was true. Ask
Angelica, she can vouch for it. We took a lil' walky break, their
spiced hot cocoa is great too.

There's a batch in my fridge chilling as I type. White Russian
cupcakes with kaluha whipped cream frosting.
