This afternoon Randall and I drove down to palo alto for Eric and
kele's baby shower. I like coed baby showers because they are
essentially just afternoon parties where you eat and play games. In
this case we ate tacos, cupcakes, drank lost of bubbly (don't be
fooled by the pic, there were lots of bottles of chandon), and Randall
and I actually won two of the three games. We may not want babies, but
we know how to clean up at a baby shower.

Last night Randall and I had to run some errands (why are we always
running errands on Friday night?) and afterwards we ended up at
haystack on 24th. We'd never been there before, but I've always wanted
to try their pizza. Haystack is such and old school family dining
place. It opened in 1972 and it feels like it. And I mean that in a
good way. I don't think there are many places like this in San
francisco. In fact I wonder I'd there are many places like this left
in the country. Mostly I felt like I had been transported to another
time.
while there we had extra thick wheat crust pizza with garlic and
basil. We also had some deep fried ravioli which we washed down with
fountain root beer. Because while beer and wine are great, root beer
just goes great with pizza.
speaking of great pairings, earlier that day I had tomato soup and
grilled cheese. Those two just go really well together and cafe
Madeline does a great job at them.
sidenote: I had hoped to go back to noncarbs and cheese today, but
we had so much leftover pizza it was carbs and cheese for me.
