Yesterday I started off my day by heading to Dolores park for a
welcome to the family picnic for becky's new dog oso. Yes, she had a
picnic party for the dog. There were banners, balloons, and a whole
sheet cake too. That's just how much she loves this new pup.
Before the picnic, Randall and I stopped at birite for fancy
sandwiches (I got the super spicy pulled pork with pickled veg and
jalapeños. We also picked up some chips and salsa for the gang, and
some not so great (borderline terrible) lychee soda for me.
Afterwards, samshrew, chris, Randall and I (and sushi who was there
for the puppup party fun) walked back to our place. On our way there
Randall wanted to stop at philz for coffee. I decided to get an iced
tea and was glad I did. The tea was freshly brewed and infused with
cardamom and mint. Seriously, all other iced tea is going to be boring
now. I have craved it at least three times since.
When we got home, we played a bunch of beatles rock band. The
windows were open and I was on mic (mental note: I should send my
neighbors apology cards). Eventually we stopped and chowed down on
some Chinese food. Randall, who does not eat tofu or mushrooms,
totally hearts the hot and sour soup. Go figure.
Sidneote: for the record, despite burger's insistence, I didn't eat
any cake.

This past Friday started off with my new favorite breakfast combo.
Honeycrisp apples and siggi's vanilla skyr. For what it is, it's
snobby I know. I could have the same dumb meal for half the price but
am paying for my designer foods. I guess food is my fancy. I can't
tell the difference between $1000 dresses and those bought at target,
but I do know my dumb apples.
Then later at lunch I negated my snobbiness with a microwaved meal.
Granted it was an amy's brand tamale, so that might have a tint of
snobbiness on it still. A little while later though, lizzy and I were
drinking out of paper cups courtesy of miss partysugar who was mixing
up a candy corn infused vodka concoction. Apparently it pays to be in
the kitchen at just the right time. Thanks k!
With the teensiest of buzzes, I headed to the gym and then met
Alejandra, ammon, and Randall for dinner. Because we lack planning
skills, we ended up at the tapas place on 22nd. I forget the name, but
it was pretty solid. The pollo adobo was nearly perfect. And the
sangria just right.
Finally we ended up at blake's for his birthday party. He was
serving up gimlets, pimms cups, and ice cream floats. I may have
broken the rules in order to taste this avocado ice cream. But
avocados are okay, so I'm sure it doesn't count anyways.
sidenote: can someone tell me why I agreed to do this no sweets
thing? I was only trying to end the candy madness.
