Yesterday started off with some of the same ol same ol. Coconut water
and a cheese not really brioche but more than a roll. My computer is
new, but it's only a matter of time before it's covered in breakfast.
for lunch I suggested la boulange. Sara had never been and I was
craving a bagutte sandwich. Somehow I ended up ordering the open face
half turkey and cup of cauliflour soup instead. The turkey was good,
but it was a bit greasy. Next time I stick with a baguette. Mostly I
am just craving a nadia's sandwich and know it won't be the same.
later in the afternoon, I wasn't feeling that great and went home a
bit earlier than usual. When I got there Randall had dinner almost
ready to go. I had to help with the snap peas, but everything was a
cooking. We had pomegranate apricot chipotle broiled chicken and
couscous. We paired it with a good cab sav and called it an early
night.

The other day Randall and I had to run some errands that had us
driving down 24th street. Randall was starving so he suggested we stop
somewhere for a bite. We weren't sure what was on the menu, but there
was a rare free parking spot, so we took it. When we got out of the
car we discovered that it happened to be in front of a taqueria. I
ended up ordering two tacos, one roasted veggies and one marinated
tofu. Randall asked what chicago had done to me (there were lots of
tasty looking meat options). I told him that the tofu looked delicious
and that I was balancing out the world for niki. She's a vegetarian
friend who slipped and had some salami the other day. I figured my
tofu would help reset the universe.

This morning I slipped right back into my usual routine: apple,
coconut water and a brioche cheese roll thing Randall got from the
grocery store. Boring and routine, but that's what breakfast is all
about.
at around 2, Sara and i both realized we hadn't eaten lunch. We ran
through the usual choices before we decided on sawaii sushi. Sara got
the sushi combo and I got the chirashi. It's not the best fish in the
world, but its alright and fast and cheap.

After breakfast with maysan, we went back to jc's house in order to
pack our bags and go. His house, btw, is great, even if the L runs
behind it all night long.
anneh's brother rob was picking us up for lunch and then taking us
to the airport. While we were waiting, tuttle called. I told him to
meet us for one last lunch (he just got a job so it was a good excuse
to celebrate).
When we got to the restaurant (Lula cafe, I highly recommend), I
decided that the brunch menu looked too delicious to pass up and
ordered the pork pozole with scrambled eggs. I have to say, I could
eat this every single day. It was that good. As was the bloody Mary
that went with it.

This morning I hit snooze about a hundred times before I could finally
drag myself out of bed. Anneh and I were waking up early in order to
meet her friend maysan (and her two very inquisitive and very hyper
kids) for breakfast. After a short dilliberation and amazing parrallel
parking job, we ended up going to victory's banner (her friend is a
vegan and this is one of those Sri chimoy assoicated places so we knew
there would be lots of options). I ordered the pumpkin wheat
shortstack with two over easy eggs. It was good, but not terrific.
afterwards, we drove around where her son zayd tried to convince me
that his name was zip and mine was ice. I ended up not believing him.
Maysan also lives near obama's house and so we did the touristy
driveby. Her other son wanted to know why we couldn't go inside. He
didn't seem to believe me when I said we weren't invited.

Anneh and I stayed out late, woke up early, and ate all day. Obviously
we're now in need of a sugar pick me up. Thank goodness we could spend
three bucks in order to split a gourmet cookie. It wasn't that gourmet
tasting (nor worth three dollars), but it passed about five minutes of
this boring trip and gave us a sugar high, so I guess it did the trick.
sidenote: I am posting this from the plane, yay for the future!

After yesterday's brunch, Betty and anneh dropped me off at tuttle and
erin's place. From there we hopped on bikes and went thriftstore
shopping. Afterwards, we went to simone's (a restaurant/bar with a
pinball theme) where I had a drink called breakfast for dinner. It was
vodka, tomato water, sage syrup, salt and pepper and a piece of bacon
garnish. It sounded odd and I was expecting something closet to a
bloody Mary, but it ended up being sweet, fragrant, and delicious. It
also paired really well with my Pilsen burger (a burger with guacamole
and jalapeños).
afterwards, we headed to the rainbo where we met up with anneh and
her friends. We stayed out way late and then ended up going back to
jc's place where we devoured cupcakes Betty brought us from dinkel's.

Yesterday anneh's mom Betty drove into town to meet us. She hurricaned
around the house delivering gifts and hugs and then we went to brunch.
We ended up at M Henry where I ordered the harvest special with two
poached eggs. It was good, but there were far too many flavors on the
plate. The chicken apple sausage was drizzles with red wine sauce, the
crepes were filled with butternut squash and smoked bacon, and then
there was a pool of salsa verde sitting on the plate too. They all
sort of worked together, but it wasn't really necessary.
sidenote: I am really sad that I did not get a picture of Betty.

After the wedding anneh and I were going to go to a place called the
whistler for a drink. However, once we got there we changed our mind.
There was a line and frosted glass doors, and we said no to both. We
ended up walking a few blocks to the whirlaway lounge and that my
friends, was much nicer.

Last night anneh and I headed to the loft on lake for Josh and
antonia's wedding. The reception was lovely and the food tasted great,
especially for a buffet style event. The cold appetizer shrimp was, as
our tablemate Jessica said, bonkers. She recommended that I forgo the
salads and cheese ad dive straight into the shrimp.
the main course buffet was also on the good side of the tasty
scale, with beef tenderloin, perfectly roasted vegetables (seriously I
could have eaten 100 of those carrots) and I know this sounds weird,
but the rosemary butter was also bonkers. Absolutely bonkers.
finally it was time for the cake and dessert treats (yes I ate
them). The cake boggled me though. It was chocolate with chocolate,
but had some weird soaked in raspberry sauce thing going on.
