After watching Julie and Julia, I came home craving beouf bourginon.
Since I didn't have the fixings or the time, I decided to go for the
next best thing: eggs poached in red wine. It was delicious, but
horribly ugly so I opted not to share that photo with you. I mean
honestly it was like a piece of toast with reddish gray eggs smothered
in a brownish gray sauce and a stripe of yellow runny yolk. It looked
pretty nasty. It tasted heavenly. But then again how could red wine,
beef stock, poached eggs and butter be bad?

For example, some actual happy hour deals like $3 well drinks.
Although the murph lets you order food past 6, so at least there's that.

For Katherine's birthday, Melissa decided to make a batch of my fave
brownies. They're delicious and super fudgey, and came out great.
Lawrence came over to get seconds and justified it by saying that it
had been four hours since his last one. Allison wondered if this made
them like advil. I said yes, but more delicous.

Look, she left us to have lunch with her friends and this is what we
ate, and at our desks. Frozen foods galore. Mine was the salsa verde
chicken enchiladas from trader joes. They were actually pretty good
despite the fact that it looked like green mush.

Today is katherine’s birthday. She is trying to gain 25 pounds during her summer SF stay (okay not really but it seems that way) and so I thought treats from Tartine would be the most appropriate gift. Also, she’s a big foodie and I couldn’t let her leave SF without trying their morning bun, or their chocolate croissant, or their almond one, or their gougeres...
