Brian and Lydia and tequila shots = trouble

Today was lydia's farewell jammy. Jammy, for those of you wondering,
is brian's word for thing. He's got a special place for her and so he
wanted to throw her a jammy. So after a week of deliberating we ended
up at Mercedes hair of the dog where we drank tequila based drinks
(including straight shots which we even got Lydia to participate in)
and ate loads of chips and wee tacos. She'll be missed, but it was a
good jammy with all the right people.

Walgreens wants me to buy halloween candy already

At lunch I went to walgreens to pick up a few random items. While
there Melissa pointed out that there is halloween candy already. That
is right, Halloween freaking candy in august.

Ps. Lunch itself was just random samples from the farmers market
downstairs. Peaches, honeydew, and afghani bread.

Lollipies for Lydia (and Angelica too)

Lydia is leaving us tomorrow, but today is my last day to hang with her. I wanted to bring in loads of pies in her honor, but am a pretty crap pie maker. So when Angelica showed me these fricking adorable lollipies, I knew I’d found my solution. Pre-made pie crust cut into circles filled with jam (I am lazy and just went the jam route) and sealed up on a stick. Sold.

They came out pretty cute (although I didn’t take a single “nice” picture of them for unknown reasons), and were actually pretty easy to do. Well that is once I got the hang of it, the first few came out wonky (like really f’d up with filling going everywhere), but once I made an assembly line of it (as opposed to doing one at a time), they came out nice. The link above has better instructions, but essentially it’s pre-made pie crusts cut into circles, put a dollop on one circle put the stick on top of that, put the other circle on top, seal edges using end of another stick (that’s how you get the cute scallops), brush tops with egg white, and pop them in a 375F oven for 15 minutes. Ta da!

Then wait and watch as your lollipie getter squeals in delight.
That is the best part.
