Sorry vegetarian pals, but this post is all about pig with crispy
faces and goats and lambs and rabbits and how I ate them all.
last night bloodhound hosted ryan farr and his crew who in turn
treated us all to a display of butchery and finely cooked bbq'd meats.
The night started off with great drinks (I had the 11th hour and
Randall had the Taylor something or other that included bacon infused
whiskey) and nommy chicharrones. Those treats were soon followed by
slices of goat and lamb. The first part of the carcass having already
been thrown in the grill.
next up were rabbit patties. They were succulent and flavorful, but
were sadly a little cold. After that we nibbled on more goat pieces
and then it was time for the main event: an 8 hour spit roasted pig
who had his face extra crisped up. And that was heavenly. The fat
melted in my mouth and the skin shattered with deliciousness. Mr. Farr
even kindly cut off the cheek for me when I asked for more skin.
after we gorged ourselves silly with pork, we decided it was time
to leave. Luckily we went out the back door where we saw them prepping
dessert. So we waited and then our patience was rewarded with bite
sized brownies and blondies dolloped with peanut butter and topped
with bacon.
overall it was a great evening of eating. Even if
they did have to slaughter a petting zoo to do so. Sidenote: the
actual name of the event was "petting zoo". I didn't make that part
up.
