check out chilango, the new Mexican place on church. The restaurant is
a unique Mexican experience in the city. The tacos and quesadillas are
not your standard taqueria fare. The masa tortillas are made right on
the spot and all the meat is free range and the produce organic when
they can get it. However it's not meals like nopalito or regalito.
Instead it's like street food that has upped it's game. In fact the
menu was hand created and prepared by a chef, not just line cooks. But
the atmosphere is fast and casual; somewhere between a taqueria and a
fancy restaurant. While there Randall and I split two dishes. Mine was
a long oval tortilla spread with black beans and smothered in short
ribs. Randall had a trio of quesadillas, which were more like tacos
and all delicious. We washed it down with a glass of horchata and
called it a meal. I will definitely be going back, if for no other
reason than to try the smothered torta. That mess looked good.
